I was looking at mocon who made a similar acquistion as Mlab now they paid one times sale. They paid 20 million dollars for 20 million in sales. the company is global would have been a nice area for mlab to get into or maybe they should have merge with mocon. Anyways it will be interesting which acquistion pays off since this I might be talking about apples and oranges here since i have no insight to either company and how it plays into the dynamis of each company. But paying one time sales seems like a good buy but will see.
Minneapolis-based Mocon Inc. said Monday that it has agreed to buy a Danish food, beverage and pharmaceuticals packaging company for about $20 million.
The purchase of PBI-Dansensor A/S of Denmark will give Mocon manufacturing capabilities in specialized instruments that are used to package perishable items.
Under the terms of the deal, expected to close around April 2, Mocon will pay two-thirds of $20 million price in cash and the rest over four years.
Mocon officials praised the deal, saying that they have been eyeing PBI-Dansensor, which has about $20 million in annual sales, for some time. The product line is expected to dovetail well with Mocon's products and give Mocon a new international distribution channel for its own new products. The merged company will have $56 million in combined revenue.
greendog, fine post.I've been adding to my moco position also ug has been a stellar performer.take a look at akrx it's a bit different than the thin traded stock's we speak of here.It has had a great run with more in the work's..good investing..mr hank
Ug has been stellar in this environment and a dividend too boot. Like Mocon nice little company with a dividend. I'll check out AkRX. Take a look at SPAN looks pretty strong in this environment with a recent great earnings report and a raise in the dividend and PKE is slowly getting in a buying range great balance sheet just needs to start reporting better earnings to get back on track. then again n this environment economical sensitive stocks might have a harder time getting some traction.
