January 12, 2011 Emmis Communications has released its results for the company's fiscal third quarter of 2010, and while the company took an overall loss, the radio division saw an increase in revenue. Domestic radio revenue for Emmis grew roughly seven percent, from almost $41.8 million a year ago to approximately $44.9 million in Q3. The company's stations in St. Louis, Indianapolis and Austin outperformed their market average, while stations in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago did not. Operating profit for Emmis' radio division was up 33 percent to $13.5 million.
Net revenue for Emmis grew 2.9 percent, from $64.6 million to $66.5 million in the fiscal Q3, which ended November 30, 2010. However, it took a $1.6 million loss overall, compared to a $1.6 million profit in Q3 '09.
