La Boulange pastries appeared in my Nor-Cal Starbucks store during the past week. Can't say I'm overly impressed. The muffins are small for the $2.45 price. Comes out to about 60 cents per bite. I was expecting greater value. Coupled with a tall dark at $1.75, the total is $4.20. I think either a lower price point on the bakery goods or a more generous portion would encourage more customers to combine the two. At 7 a.m. there was still a long line at both the drive-thru and inside the store, but I didn't see anyone purchasing the baked goods to go along with their coffee.
This hasn't been our experience. I've seen a lot of people trying them. And my wife, who isn't a sweet eater, really enjoyed the ones that she has tried of mine. She was disappointed that our local Starbucks has not yet gotten the La Boulange products.
I listened to the CC and heard the same message. I am very long SBUX and buy coffee there on a daily basis. My only point was that the new bakery products haven't caught on here yet and maybe it's a price point/serving size issue. In addition, they don't carry Evolution Fresh when 100 feet away in the Whole Foods store the shelves are fully stocked.
But Dunkin is always packed. People started to realize that starsuks burns its coffee and reheats old stale coffee. Proof is in the lines. starsuks no lines. Dunkin always a line. No matter what joey or 85 says.
