    Information From The Fields

I don't own NFG anymore. I do pay close attention to what is happening as far as drilling in NW Pa. As you are probably aware NFG has said in the near future they hope to have definative information on their Utica prospects and at one time was assessing the prospects of developing their western most marcellus acreage for wet gas. They said the wet gas line started just to the west of the wells they drilled in the OWLS Nest (Forest/Elk) last year.

Yesterday I took a drive down through the buzzard swamp area of Forest County. Shell has permitted to drill 6 wells in this region. I believe these would be exploratory wells. I found the location site which is about 1/4 mile from the Elk County Line. It is plenty large enough to drill six wells.

The pa permitting reports no longer contain the drilling depth information. Without going to the source permit I cannot tell what they are drilling into. I did notice M and D on permits. In that area they have two Devonian zones (Rhinestreet and Genesee) the Marcellus and possibly the Utica. They are drilling one vertical which I believe is being done for logging and to take cores.

About 2 miles down the road into Elk County I saw a huge Seneca drilling site under construction. It looks to me to be a multipad site. I believe NFG is building this to check out the feasibility of a western acreage drilling progam for wet Marcellus gas.

All over NW PA i have seen evidence of exploratory drilling. Not only for Marcellus, but Devonian shales plus the Utica. I believe the proposed Shell cracker at Monaca PA is driving the drilling. Companies know they will have a market for ethane and it is worthwhile to evaluate what they have. I believe information is being shared in a lot of these drilling ventures.

In any case I hope the analysts following NFG will ask questions about the results of these drilling ventures and the prospects for wet gas.
