Time for a 3/1 split only to lower market price. I'm a long time holder and have gained big time from all previous splits. I understand the cons!

    Sentiment: Buy

    • You talk about (1)soup (2)bone (3)pit. You must either be a cook or you think about eating all the time. What is it?

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • Keep dreaming. Not going to happen. The present management is too smart to split the stock. Splits do not benefit anyone in any way whatsoever. My original 200 shares bought in 1987 are now 9600 shares. With the demise of the odd-lot differential and fixed-rate commissions, the main reasons for splits has disappeared. It's now easy to buy or sell fractional shares, so you can just specify a dollar amount or a share amount on your orders. I'd rather see companies offer a choice of either a cash dividend or an equivalent stock dividend. The cash dividend is taxable while the stock dividend is not (until the stock is sold.) Some companies used to offer a choice of different classes of shares for this purpose. Actually, AMGN has split the price of the stock several times in the past 13 years. The only problem is that they did it without splitting the stock.... just the price. Hopefully, those bad old days are behind us.
