regards to R&D and other big device companies: "If you
want a track team to win the high jump, you find one
person who can jump over 7", not 7 people who can jump 1
The comment about "getting on the bus" and "We
act in harmony" jarred an ironic memory. A little
over a year ago, when I was working at BD, I attended
a training session regarding the BD Transformation.
At the end, the consultants facilitating this team
building session stressed that whether we, as individuals,
were "on the bus" or not, it was moving on towards
transformation. I commented to one of the consultants "before I
get on the bus, how will I know it is not a one-way
ride to Abilene?" The consultant's response was "That
bus analogy is not a real good one."
