NFLX and CSTR together actually makes sense, they can both benefit equally from a partnership (one has streaming the other rentals). These two companies have logical business models and operate efficiently enabling lower pries.
Whereas comcast w/blockbuster, time warner, etc...have rigid business models and so much baggage they can't compete on price.
Also not seeing where any of the companies rumored, such as Amazon, really need cstr. Would love to see it happen but...
To the extent an amazon wanted to build a true hybrid model like the one that has worked so well for netflix such an entity might look to redbox to fulfill the physical side of the equation. Netflix and redbox have the only healthy national physical rental networks in the US. That's why amazon might see a need to partner with redbox.
