Wow, the last thing on the call was that Redbox plans to not use any of the Blockbuster Express kiosks from the acquisition. So they bought the biz for $100M, $10K per kiosk but plan to operate one kiosk on one network...thus eventually won't use any the Blockbuster kiosks. Right? So the cost of just a new redbox kiosks is around $15K.
This acquisition isn't looking so hot to me anymore. As there are effectively zero synergies. they paid $100M to just get rid of a competitor that would have disappeared eventually anyway. right? they weren't profitable. but i suppose it means that the existing kiosks will be more profitable and they bought out several retail contracts.
