The December or Holiday effect. It sounds pretty serious to me.
"Mobile check deposits zoomed 25% higher in December over November, compared with the typical growth of 4% to 5% per month the company had been recording."
A sudden increase, so substantial and it's really not totally expected??
Then reorders would jump up in the folowing Q. All of a sudden the block you bought in November that you thought would last you- you now realise it's not going to last as long so you better push up the time frame. Anyone who had planned reoder in January or later now sees that they better order more.
So none of this would have ANY effect until next Q.
i think it may be fair to consider whether to extrapolate the "December effect" onto the whole Mobile Deposit Market.
Interesting. Never thought on seasonality but Grandparents and relatives mailing checks to each other as Christmas gifts and people mobile depositing them would lead to higher December revenues or transaction usage for Mitek.
