That's called pump and dump, and it's illegal.

Analysts, especially ones with access to popular media, should recommend stocks on fundamentals alone -- e.g. earnings growth. And on that criteria, to date this has indeed been a bomb. Today was a grand example: HUGE up day, but VOLC tanks.

While of course you're correct, and in the case of VOLC, likely pragmatic - Mark Skousen has picked a couple of real stinkers recently.....

Just from recent memory, he touted IMH as the next financial powerhouse - and I think it's down about 95% since his mass emailing. CDL another real POS, down about 80% since his mass push. In fairness, he was up a bit on CMED, but overall, his record sucks.
