Appears ASB is creating it's departure from Illinois. I see they're selling the two branches in Galesburg to a local, community bank that has a big presence. That'll be like old home week for one of the local banks execs who got let out of the ASB doors a few years back. One can only wonder what town will be ASB-less in the near future????
They have been quietly selling off Illinois branches for years! Galesburg is larger than some of the communities they have/have had small offices in before. Galesburg was a non-growth spot when they picked it up for a song during the FFSB days. Old JS liked to buy the cows cheap, milk them to death and then sell the meat. Only exception was Peoria and then he personally bought the 20 story business tower there from FFSB so he wasn't about to see that financial interest disappear when he could play both sides of the street.
My guess would be Quincy. They have too many local banks there that give better service. They are losing customers left and right, especially since they are down to one branch after closing 24th & Broadway.
