consider AGNC, a 20% total return, and recent insider buying. They did an SO recently and currently cheap. Don't put all your eggs in this basket, but worth some consideration before buying a less safe yield here.
There is absolutely nothing "safe" about mREITs. Check what happened to them in 2008-2009. Most have been reducing quarterly dividends for the past several quarters. Let's see, would I rather own oil or mortgages? Not a difficult decision.
