PER is by far the best of the Trusts in the market place. It's performance has matched the perspectus since the IPO. I saw article on SDT, but does anybody know what is going on today?
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Many of the trusts seem to be trading down together. Remember, though, that all the SD trusts and the Whiting trusts are "mid-quarter" as far as the distribution is concerned. They will all earn their next distribution during the second week of May, i.e., 7-8 weeks from now. The gradual climb toward these dividend dates usually start roughly 1 month prior.
Agreed that that has been the usual pattern. The difficulty is when to buy a falling knife. I bought some PER during that last plunge when the RSI went under 20, but it continued to fall to RSI 12, which is extreme oversold. If you are going to buy, make sure you save some capital in case you have to buy more lower.
If you are referring to the SA article, he also published a few others on trusts this week, one with a negative outlook for CHKR, one with very negative outlook on ECT, and one with somewhat positive outlook on SDR. I guess there is some spillage effect.
Even thouh, his disclosure says " I am long SDR, PER. ", and in one of the comments on the SDT article, the author said
". At present, I remain comfortable with PER as it is trading at a PV-10 multiple that is in-line with other markets. SDR is a little riskier play, but also has a better rate of return to hedge the risk at present."
This weeks article on ECT which caused the carnage in that trust was a different author.
Read the series by Daniel R Moore - they are balanced and factual (not opinion). Numbers direct from the company filings. He has done about 5 or 6 articles on the trusts but hasn't yet done a detailed article on PER (except as part of one which covered 5 trusts together).
All trusts are getting bad press.. It appears SD and engineers duped investors.. I suspect people are waiting a another negative article from SA, maybe the next will be on PER.. I'm holding onto my PER & SDR not sure what to do about my SDT since I also getting influenced by these negative SA articles.. As of now these trusts have been a wealth destroyer..
