Is DFR still giving out dividends --- and if so, what's the X-Date?

<<<In other words, Deerfield expects to have a net operating loss carry forward from the asset sales, meaning that there is no dividend obligation and DFR may elect not to pay a dividend at all until the NOL is used up>>>.

That suthor's speculation may or may not be correct. However, whoever paraphrased it as DFR "suspends dividend" is providing misleading information. No decision has been announced.

    • no one seesm to understand how a REIT works -- if DFR remains a REIT -- they HAVE to pay out 90% of their taxable income as a dividend -- NOL's dont come into this equation -- NOL's can only be used to offset capital gains, not investment income. Managemnt needs to do a better job communicating where they stand -- they have been awful so far.

The problem is that ex - Triarc principals (Pelts/May) are still controlling things here and look up triarc to see how they have done for their shareholders , communicating and otherwise.

    • DFR (as a REIT) will continue to pay a (reduced) dividend.

However, they may wind up paying that dividend in DFR shares over the next couple of Qs to keep the cash available for margin calls or potential acquisitions.
