What are the chances of the PPS dropping signifcantly after the ex date? I think there may be many other people, sch as myself, that are may just try to recoup a little of what I lost this past week through dividends and then get as far away from this garbage as possible.
I think the sell off right now has more to do with getting a higher dividend yield. At roughly $3.75/share the dividend is 6.93% which is pretty juicey these days but that is if they do a payout, I'm hoping they do.
The Board proposes to the Annual General Meeting that from the retained earnings a
dividend of EUR 0.20 per share be paid out on the shares of the Company. At December
31, 2011, the number of shares of the Company was 3 744 956 052, based on which
the maximum amount to be distributed as dividend is EUR 749 million.
The Board proposes that the Annual General Meeting authorize the Board to resolve to
repurchase a maximum of 360 million Nokia shares by using funds in the unrestricted
shareholders’ equity. The proposed amount of shares corresponds to less than 10 per
cent of all shares of the Company.
i think more likely it will fall after earnings release, but if the lumina sales data is great and released then the fall will end. no great news and probably some selling after the ex div date..i'm waiting to buy more if it gets into the mid $3.50 range. i'm looking to buy before ex div date.
STock is already trading at liquidation value, in fcat perhaps much mower than liquidation value. NOK has a lot of assets that most on the street do not relaize.
SO, the stock has ver limited downside, regardless of the dividend. The true potential of the shares are the massive short positions, since these have to be coverred. The value will be the highest if someone like MSFT annmounce a bid for NOK!!! I think the cnahce for this is in fat very high.
