Yesterday, an interesting story came out that China Mobile Limited (CHL) will be selling Nokia Corporation's (NOK) new Lumia 920 in the most populous nation. The majority of the news lately on Nokia has been on the company's new smart phones and how the company botched the presentation of the new phone that saw shares trade down over 15%.
China Mobile is the largest phone carrier in the world with 688 million subscribers, as of July 31. With its impressive subscriber numbers, China Mobile has a 70% market share in China and a 40% share in the coveted 3G market. With China set to be the number one smart phone market by volume, this announcement should have sent shares up more than yesterday's 7% increase.
They sold the 900 there and if failed horribly. My friend who just moved there said he has yet to see anyone with something other than a Samsung. HTC or Huawei. (all multi-colored WP8 device makers).
Those asian made phones are a reason Apple is in no hurry to develop a phone for China Mobile. Apple is waiting on China Mobile to roll out 4LTE (which they are over the next 12 months). Apple is smart, nokia is desperate (like most bad holders on this board)
Apple is not going to make it this Christmas maybe Chinese New Year...There is incompatibility issue on LTE...Qualcomm still have to make those chips....I heard though that it was the money deal with China Mobile....Last year using 3G for iPhone 4 & 4s they should have been there already & still they did not strike a deal...could be money deal...In China they call the shots not Apple.
Iphone 5 released or not, isn't a china fav. it's safe to assume that most ppl will either buy a low end phone or be smart enough to use windows phones in china. or they'll be using android phones. apple is an american thing, it's suits against handset makers over jumping jack patents is not reflecting well towards adoption. most Asians are sophisticated enough to understand that pinch to zoom is a concept, it's not a technology. it's like trying to patent right click.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Too late Concord I already did Thursday... I am so bullish on this stock that I broke my own rule......I'll be at Cayman Islands after the Q4 report.....see you there. :)
What's your take on the burn rate? Hard to say isn't it?....Don't know where Bloomberg got their figure. Nok was building this phone since last year for all I know.
