Companies take pride and in their headquarters. They go out of their way to spend Billions to make them unique and leave a lasting impression.
Nokia would have you believe that real estate is not part of their core business and that it is no big deal they are selling headquarters.
Wake up and smell the desperation. Nokia is doing everything to survive and it might not be enough.
Fancy buildings and empty brains. To invent smartasses have to steal Nokia IP. Remember, Apple's royalties will pay the rent for Nokia's headquaters and our next dividend, that is, while they still in business. For fun read the nice article about your hero in the Korea Times "Did Jobs Steal?" I bet everyone knows the answer to that one.LOL
that royalty is not covering the mortgage payment because they have to sell the building. Get real and understand what is going on. Nokia as nowhere to go but up, but they are closer to death than you would assume.
your really reaching here. Selling your building and leasing it back is a very common practice in the corporate world for cost cutting measures.
In case you didn't realize NOK needs to implement cost cutting measures in mass to strengthen it's balance sheet. I would not mind a 10% workforce reduction next.
Fancy HQ is nothing but wasting money. As for the Apple and Google, I do not believe that it is in the shareholders best interests to build things like that, but yes - they can afford them now, but maybe in 5 years time Apple shareholders would wish they didn't create the bloody spaceship on ground.. Anyhow, your point is useless, Nokia is valued at 12B when AAPL is 544B.. there's a "slight" difference - NO?
The fact remains that once Nokia was #1 in the world of mobiles, actually the grand daddy of them for many many years and they still make MUCH more mobiles then AAPL. They have hit a slump, but which one do you think can triple or more the current PPS? AAPL with the fancy spaceship or Nokia with the BEST mobilephone on the market today! I'll take the best phone, #2 worldwide phone supplier with the best mobile on the market any day against AAPL and it's spaceship - LOL.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Sure a building and what it represents means nothing. that is why Boeing spent billions. Untill Sears was dying they too spent billions on their headquarters. Show me a sports venue without massive naming rights.
It is only a headquarters, but it is the face of the organization and can become an icon of success. Selling your headquarters is not something you do lightly. They are for sure doing it to sure up the balance sheet, but what does that tell you!
