Wait a minute. AAPL could be a buy, because they still have alot of money making products and have ALOT of cash. Don't they have a 100 billion in cash? They may be slipping which is good for NOK and others, that's GREAT. Why should all the money go to one company? That's why companies need to seize on weakness of the GIANT, so they can be giants themselves. Did anyone really believe that AAPL at 700 would get that much higher than that, I don't care if it was considered cheap. Now AAPL should be super cheap now. But who can tie up all that money to buy a handful of its stocks? Institution and big money people can do that because they millions to play with, but not the regular investor. If you want to buy AAPL on this weakness, that wouldn't be bad. But why? Do you think you can make more money putting it in a much cheaper stock (not tying up all you assets/money) and possibly able to make much more money? Example, can you make more money investing in AAPL or NOK?
AAPL increase top line revenues by 18%, that is not the problem here. The problem is growth, they sold 48 million phones. Growth is slowing because there is no one else to buy phones. That is until China. The problem with china is growth at lower margins. So, basically, Apple is becoming a value stock. You have to understand the reason people invest. Focused on product will kill you. Rimm is cashflow possitive and that is why the stock is doing well. Apple will continue to sell more phones each quarter, just not at double digits.
Think like this apple sells 40 million high-end phones. If they create a cheap $90 phone, they will sell 90 million phones in total. Nokia sold 4 million high-end phones and 75 million cheap ones.
Nokia's problem is financial. The timing of things is not in their favor. In a commodity environment, they are not cashflow positive enough to survive. Apple is. Rimm maybe.
You have a good valid point. In this market you have to make every effort to get in to the lowest point. The market will walk this down low to accumulate & take it up to it's a proper evaluation once they have a clear view of the Q4 & sell........ Don't forget they have 100 billion alright but 56 bil is already accounted for production cost bills. Apple is loosing battle on almost all their litigations that will take a huge bite from their cash hoard....BTW I shorted apple at $698.35 & settled at $655.00...How I see it? When the media started calling for Apple heading to $1,600...They probably know already something is wrong with the iPhone5......
But as always in this market "pigs get slaughtered" I can only but say, "All the best to all of us retail investor".
Forget about loyality when investing, that your own ego and maybe other psychological things happening with you. Why are you here investing, to be loyal or to make money? Why invest in AAPL, where you can make more money someplace else? Does anyone think AAPL will get back to 700 anytime soon, that's about a 30% move up? Does anyone think that NOK can do better, with less money you got to put out? I like AAPL, great products, but so what! Are you here to make money or be patriotic? I know that NOK is small potatoes compared to AAPL, we all know that, but can you make more money investing in NOK's stock? From August of last year to now, NOK stock has more than doubled, what has AAPL's stock done during that time?
No Comparison. Love APPL all you want, but when it comes to stocks, I'm going someplace else. Don't limit it to NOK either.
