This conclusion was reached by polling some analysts. Nobody heard anything from Nokia on the dividend. I bet if you ask those same analysts (11 of the 14 polled) they also said Nokia would cut the dividend last year too.
We would get a pop on that.
I assumed this to be true as it would be irresponsible to borrow and dilute $1 Billion just to pay a dividend. You pay dividends from cash flows not loans or dilution. I'm so glad if this is true. Now they need to buy back those 300 Million shares.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Based on ANALysts speculations who back shorts. What #$%$ writer is this that doesn't know the difference between millions and billions. They will have cash of 3.4 million euros! What #$%$&%ls are out there getting paid actual wages. LOL
I actually would not mind if they did. The price drops by the div amount and we have to pay a heft tax on it to the Finnish government before we even get it. My shares are in an IRA so I do not get to deduct the foreign tax I pay from mine.
This would also keep the company stronger by keeping more cash on hand.
I believe that the Dividend is toast. Elop is Canadian so he doesn't probably feel as obligated to pay the div. For all that the idea of paying 1 billion dollars on a co. that still has not posted a real profit is ridiculous, imo. In the future they can always re-instate it when Nok is showing a good profit.
