The thread frenchy started is really nice but this will get lost in it. Some of the quotes people posted in there were downright beautiful but some, like the Elio poem, made me wonder if we're not just glorifying a namebrand, like the hideous art of that nutjob, Van Goe . To prove it here's a poem I wrote in roughly 15 minutes. Keep in mind I'm not a writer or a poet and this is actually the first poem I ever wrote - not counting any poetry I had to write in school since I can't even remember what I wrote (I wasn't paying attention).
But this poem does have a message and a meaning so I'm curious if that comes across, if anyone can understand what I'm trying to say.
Enjoy - and post your own if you got it or just write one up. Should be interesting.
Eyes wide open mind shut tight
We sit and ponder the plot of life
To be, To do - conflicting plight
What is the meaning - all the strife?
Our goals, our hopes - fading with time
As we become one like the rest
The child is gone - innocent crime
The hands of time unravels the mind
One day I wake to the sound of lies
What once was wrong is now my life
The wicked strive on words of bias
Devouring the souls of mindless cowards
We weep, we cry - downward we fall
Dreams forgotten, lives in a crawl
For once we taste the bitter sweet
Our hearts entomb, full of deceit
But far away what once was ours
A figment of everlasting life
Chasing a dream which cannot be gotten
Just like the truth once it's forgotten
The end is near, our fate is sealed
Of our own device, diluted souls deplete
The only life out of this Death
Lies deep beneath - with worms and fear
The fate for evil once waked, too clear
The path to death is oh so near
But hope resides within us all
For the pure of heart will hear the call

If you ever took the time to look into the eyes of any Van Gogh portrait, you'd get a chill up your spine. I know, I've been to many museums around the world and am proud to say I've looked into the eyes of some of those portraits and could feel the pain of that artist.
I can't even do stick figures so that ain't saying much about that psycho "artist". You know they have great new artists who use human feces and urine to paint the image of Jesus and Maria.
Just cause society calls these mindless morons artists doesn't mean I have to believe it. Ah child will look at a Van Gogh painting and say its garage but guys like you aren't as smart #$%$ year olds, you eat up all the waste the media feeds you and if they tell you scary and pathetic paintings are amazing then man, you're gonna go pay $50 for a photocopy and hang it on your wall so people can see you're learned, sophisticated and cultured, when in reality you're just a confused lemming trying to fit in and be important.
Try thinking for yourself, it's pretty amazing although quite often you'll find yourself disagreeing with the masses. That's how you know you're on the right track.

Vald - A suggestion - get some social and personal outlets other than this board. This is a Nokia investment board. There are some interesting people here, sometimes funny, often obtuse, often appreciative of your posts, but posting here is not a substitute for a real life with real people doing real things. All too easy to hang around here too much. Nokia will do what Nokia will do, up or down, with little regard for the time you spend here. I hope you take this suggestion as intended, as positive and constructive advice.
And not to be outdone - here's something to tell your wife (this is from memory, so I may not get it right, I think this is by Naruda). You get big bonus points if you quote this to her at the right time, and mean it -
I love you without knowing how, or why, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexity or pride.
So I love you, because I know no other way than this:
Where no "I" exists, or "you".
So close, your hand on my chest is my hand.
So close, your eyes close when I fall asleep.
lol, I'll think about reciting that to her.
I'm not sure why a simple spontaneous poem caused you to say I spend too much time here. I so spend too much time here but I'm not sure what this poem has to do with it.
That said, I'm out and about most days but because I'm not working a regular job I have time to check back in with this board every few hours. I'm always thinking: what if some news broke and I missed it - I own options which jump and drop fast so i need to know the moment something happens. And I figure there's so many eyes on this board that if anything breaks its gonna be on here first. So that's why I post at various hours of the day. But I rarely post before noon and considerably less often on weekends.
So if you think about it that way I don't spend nearly that much time on here as others and not quite as much time as it would appear by just looking at my posts throughout the day. For example I'm posting now and I'll spend maybe 10 minutes reading to see if there's anything going on and then I'm out. But to someone watching it may seem I never left from the last time I posted some 2 or 3 hours ago.
At any rate, thanks for the suggestion and I hope you enjoyed my poem, I may write another - this board seems to be a good outlet for me. Ha!
