Some guy on market pulse is claiming that Elop leaked ER earnings. So I searched in yahoo. What's weird about yahoo is that articles that claim to be released "90 minutes ago", are actually articles from last year. So I was reading this: "Nokia reported another quarterly loss on Thursday and warned of more tough times ahead, raising the stakes for smartphone launches next month aimed at clawing back market share lost to Apple and Samsung." I just wanted to die! I looked up and saw the article was from 10/18/2012. CLOSE CALL! Just had to share. LOL.
I wouldn't worry much, nokia only has to meet Q4 earnigs and sales to do well since Q4 was the biggest quarter of the year. That means 4.4 million lumias.
I simply cannot fathom less than 6 million lumias sold and we may hit my personal target of 9 million.
But whatever we get every analyst will know Q1 is the slowest quarter and the rest of the year will be stronger and with more and better phones like the 720/520 which just got launched and of course new flagships and a tablet.
If we do at least 6 million lumias and show a profit then we should get massive upgrades as that would mean at least 9 million for Q2 and going up steadily from there every quarter. It would be confirmation that nokia has made it, they have turned the corner and Q4 was not a fluke. That's the only reason we're back to $3, it seems like everyone out there can't see what's happening and they think Q4 was just a fluke and nokia can't sell lumias at anything past 5 million per quarter which just ain't enough.
We should get an announcement in the next day or 2 if we blew out earnings again even though the goal was pretty high, in line with Q4. Not even apple or Samsung is shooting for in line sales and earnings with Q4. So imagine if nokia totally blows out Q4 sales and earnings and does it with limited 620 launch, 920 shortage most of the quarter and no 720 or 520? It would mean Q2 and beyond would be monster quarters and most likely it would come out of Samsung's hide.
Now we just need a couple very high end fully loaded quad core flagships with massive cameras and a tablet and 2013 would all of a sudden become a monster year with a $12+ price target.
Thanks for taking the time to write all that, vlad. Yeah, I can't imagine selling less than 4.4. Quarter 2 I'm optimistic about, with 928 and 720-520 (as you mentioned). Good to see that 920 is still doing well. Should be a good year. Cheers.
