I would estimate that approx 1million or so sold in March making it a total of 2.7-3 million for china. Anyone have any numbers for India, Europe or the US? I know they have been gaining market share in many European Countries. They sold 4.4 million in Q4 2012, so even if they only sold that same amount(in all of the other countries), that would put them at around 7.4 million Lumia phones, but since they have been gaining market share in almost every market, I would also estimate that they would beat the 4.4 million level since they only sold the 920t in China for about a week in Q4. Based on that I would think that they have sold around 8 million Lumia phones in Q1. The only thing that worries me is that Q1 is normally a weak quarter for handsets. Another thing that is important is the Siemens contract expires in April. I imagine they would partner w/ Alcatel/Lucent and retain or buy more of than 50% stake, but if they did sell it, what would that do to the share price?
Disclosure: I am long Nokia and have 2 Lumia phones and 2 Galaxy S3's.
Okay, end febr numbers came out already, add 30% and you will see 6mil sold. Personally i believe march will do better then 30% and we will hit 7mil. That's almost double Q4 holliday season, a great succes imo. PPS will hit 5 b4 18 april. Good luck and hold this baby is going back to 10 imo.
He's getting it from those China Mobile that were released almost two months ago. Some cakes had "2M" on it. China Mobile didn't deny the party, but did deny that "2M" mean "2 million Lumia sold". The source never said what it actually stood for. Some are firm on the belief it meant 2 million, but they had to be hush-hush.
Even that China Mobile denied that 2M meant 2 million is not clear. I thought the report said Nokia denied it but that the report also referred to 'a Nokia source' and did not name anyone. There was nothing official from anybody at China Mobile or Nokia that I know of. Can anybody point to an official response? If so, it should be available on the company websites.
So apart from the photos the only other information was rumours. Flimsy though they are, the photos and the original story that the celebration was of 2m, i.e. 2 million sales, are the strongest evidence and story among the whole bad bunch.
In my opinion.
I am also long NOK. But please do not post this stupid post without any backup data. That will make you look really stupid. 2 million in China for Jan/Feb? Just get to Monday morning traffic son.
And why would you not think 2 million would be possible on two of the largest carriers in the world, China Mobile and China Unicom. China Mobiles website describes the 920 t as being a best seller. China Unicom said Nokia and other companys were going to help it reach it's sales goals.
I don't even think they SHIPPED that many Lumias, so how could they sell that many? According to China Mobile Nokia only shipped 30,000 the first month due to supply constraints. I've seen nothing that even hints that those constraints have been alleviated.
