      • Vlad, did you not take notice that WP8 has jumped to almost six percent of the global smartphone market? This was accomplished without the newer smartphones recently released by Nokia (520, 620, 720, 928). If Nokia hits a home-run with their next flagship release in July, this stock will rise significantly regardless. There's far more money even in cheap smartphones compared to feature phones, and even if Nokia's total volume drops, their profits will rise dramatically...

I'm watching the pace at which WP8 is growing, and it's exceeding most people's expectations. At this pace, I predict that WP will account for twenty percent of global smartphone market-share by the year 2016, and Nokia has eighty percent of that market to themselves thus far. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the implications - this is a game about waiting, but with that destination in mind, I can afford to wait for a while longer!

    • Judge,
"tell me, why did you urinate on the police car"

Because a round trip return of 17% in a week has been the proven superior strategy rather than buying and holding a stock that posts negative eps?

      • May be the story in AP has brought enough heat that Hedge funds are trying to exit short positions.
If we have legislation that would curtail their advantages the market will respond with force.
Historically until Cox /Bush and Billy's Glass/ Steagall baloney, stocks were a reasonable place to save. Not any more. Fool me once!

        Sentiment: Hold

    • In 2 months Microsoft is up 20%. That is a major Dow stock, widely held - it doesn't move that much that fast if some big players don't know something.

Regrettably, I'm not one of those big players with inside info, so I'm stuck with simple speculation.

I think Xbox (as I've noted in other recent posts) could prove a game changer, making the average consumer interested in the Windows ecosystem, and not at whatever tiny tweaks Apple makes to the next iPhone (oooh, another row of icons - that's incredible!). There are a lot of people out there who don't want to spend money on a PC or tablet, but are fine with a video game player. Xbox will be more than that. It's MSFT's Trojan Horse for W8.

The combination of Microsoft software on ALL platforms (cloud, enterprise, living room, tablet, PC, the living room, and with Nokia, mobile) will prove overwhelming to digital. The average consumer will become immersed in Windows simply by osmosis, and once they get into Windows on one platform, they'll get sucked into using Windows on other platforms. Resistance is futile. Nokia will be the mobile arm of the Windows ecosystem, and that's not a small thing.

This won't happen next week. Next month MSFT presents the new Xbox. They will build the marketing for W8 over the summer and leading into fall, when you'll see Windows 8 products (and Windows phones) really take off.

Again - purely speculation on my part, but it makes sense to me. If the people at MSFT were as smart of I am, that's what they would do.

    • Nice jump, but low volume.

    • To be sure, no one can be 100 % sure. I am sorry if it sounds contradictory but it is true when there is absolutely no major news.

One thing is for certain though, if you read the articles coming out of the regular news analysts agencies, they are talking in terms of the end of the world because of what's happening to their Apple, one even mentioned Samsung is out to destroy everything. Here is another one. 3 Quotes That Explain Apple’s Demise. It seems thus everyone is now so negative in Apple. Speaking of which I really do not understand what is going on at Apple, Nokia can introduce 10 product this year, many in the top line that will fight with Samsung at all angles, why cannot Apple just introduce one, just one.

So maybe, just maybe, some of those invested in Apple, might have switched to Nokia, or at least part of it.

    • Cause big buyers not gonna tell you before they buy.

    • Technical bounce. Downtrend very strong and intact until 3.60 broken upside... only then is there anything to really talk about

Earnings were good and pps dropped, future is looking very bright, marketshare will increase and next earnings will be profitable, divi will be reinstalled, Lumia and Asha will rock. Patents will remain great source of income, AAPL is dead and losing marketshare fast, Samsung is garbage, Nokia guarantees quality product. Could go on all day why Nokia is going back to 10$ soon. Shorts are def toast.

    • Shorts had their day on earnings. Spin was bad and they helped push it down. I would think any long that wanted out got out then, also pushing it down. Now we have only future to look at, and as Lumia grows and new products come out, optimism abounds. I think if we get steady increase in Lumia like last 2 q's, up we go! After Verizion starts selling 928, we should get some more growth, and I really look forward to next fall holiday season.
