I talked to a senior tech support person at Verizon today.
He said he was waiting on two things:
His current contract to expire so he could buy at an upgrade discount and the new phone which he hears is better than all other phones. He said he is a customer not just employee. They have to pay the non upgrade fee also if they are in contract.
This has been my point that immediate results are impossible because people who use Apple & Samsung are under 1-2 year contract with their current plan. So you have to wait on a change of arms until peoples contracts expire.
Not very many if anyone buys a new phone if they have to pay $400.00 - $800.00 with not new customer contract or upgrade.
Microsoft needs to start their own Telco. This really is a slow curve to a shift in stats. What the heck did people on this board think was going to happen? In three months every apple & Samsung user would break their contracts and pay $800.00 for a new Lumia and have two contracts. The contract and incentive programs make winning new market share a 2 - 3 year process.
Actually, with new launches, reps are sometimes prohibited from getting the device. This is common practice at Sprint. The only way to get a hot new phone at launch if you're a rep is to get it as a retail customer. This is in situations where supply of the new device will be low. After 3 months or sometimes 6 months a rep can then get the device and activate it on his dealer account line.
