    • Do you want Nokia to spend 1.3 Billion on share buy back? how will that serve the interest of the company or shareholders when liquidity is what they need in the Windows transition? Not happening in my opinion until earliest's just one of those PR statement to sooth investors anxiety, plenty of them in this message board.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • they are starting to experience liquidity problem causing them to axe annual dividends for the first time in 100+ years, they are in no position to buy back shares.

    • Nokia has had an authorized buy back in place for several years now. But during this transition to WP from Symbian they have elected NOT to actually repurchase shares. 

    • No source. Can u provide a source?

      • The do it each year (not each quarter). The most recent authorization was described so in the Annual General Meeting press release:

"Proposal to authorize the Board to repurchase shares
The Board proposes that the Annual General Meeting authorize the Board to resolve to repurchase a maximum of 370 million Nokia shares. The proposed amount of shares represents less than 10% of all the shares of the Company. The shares may be repurchased in order to develop the capital structure of the Company, finance or carry out acquisitions or other arrangements, settle the Company's equity-based incentive plans, be transferred for other purposes, or be cancelled. The shares may be repurchased either through a tender offer made to all shareholders on equal terms, or in marketplaces by repurchasing the shares in another proportion than that of the current shareholders. The authorization would be effective until June 30, 2014 and terminate the current authorization granted by the Annual General Meeting on May 3, 2012.

The repurchase authorization is proposed in order to maintain flexibility, but the Board has no current plans for repurchases during 2013."

Every quarter at the the shareholder meeting , they authorize both the authority to 1.Buy the stock , 2. Issue more stock.
Buybacks will surely happen sooner than later , just not this quarter.

    • Maybe they can use all that dividend money they stop paying out to buy back shares.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy
