After doing extensive research I bought a Galaxy Centura for $75.00. I went with Straight Talk (Verizon) contract free, unlimited data, text and voice for $45/month. It is fast, good camera and cam (video), integrates with exchange and more importantly with my personal gmail. Seamlessly synchs with both systems. So for the Chinese to produce a phone under $40 for their market doesn't seem much of a stretch.
Lumia 520 at $129.99 is already price competitive with Chinese name brands. Huawei have Android phones with Qualcomm quad core processor, 5MPixel camera at RMB1200. That is US$195 and that is higher price than Lumia 520.
Nokia is still a name brand. It can price itself slightly higher than Lenovo, ZTE, Huawei etc.
Nok is going head on at all levels with Samsung...Silly? It is aimed to take #2 position in market share Samsung Came up with a $78 phone to compete with NOK's $100.00. Nokia produce a $68 & better than Samsung's low end $78.
there's got to be a nice market for it, and profit margins must be good since they don't come with windows. It's a good alternative for all those people that don't want something so advanced imho.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I used an iphone immitation (can't download any app) while in an Asian tour, it worked well while I was there for the whole month. It died a day before my flight back home. I don't need it anymore anyway but it was indeed so cheap.......
Long term use? stay away from those immitations.....They are garbage phones produced to fool wannabe's.
Any body with a brain knows APPLE uses China Unicom a small player. The real IPhones don't have a network, The white box or black market Phones use China Telecom the biggest network in the world. They have good service. China uses the TD-SCDMA standard and China Unicom.
Some have said on this board that one thing android doesn't do well is work on cheap phones. Something about fragmentation, requires much memory, probably unstable.
From these comments I would guess that you can take 1mb pictures and text your friends, not much else with this cheap Chinese phone under 40.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Chinese and cheapness go hand in hand. Android phone now made by Chinese are throw away devices, pretty soon they will be giving them away like when you sign up for a bank account, get an Android phone free. Spend $200 on you next grocery bill at Giant of Food Lion and get an Android phone free. It will soon get to they point when they say you get a free Android phone, folks will be asking "Okay but what else you got besides an Android phone?"
