In 1Q-2013, NOK reported Operating Profit of -150 Million (EUR), with Restructuring Related Charges of 72 Million (EUR) in Devices & Services (reduction of 1,600 employees), and 129 Million (EUR) in NSN (reduction of 1,700 employees). Without such Restructuring Related Charges, NOK would have been profitable in 1Q-2013.
After GDR3; Nokia will be able to do state of the art cutting edge hardware! That means HD+ screens, quad-core processors and USB 3.0 and other upgrades.
I going to wait for holiday to see if they can do the modern looking iPhone 5 looking smartphone with state of the art hardware inside.
There is still forcast EUR 200M of restructuring charges to Devices remaining for the year, but NSN is supposed to be done with charges, only cash burn of EUR 200M while guided to an operating profit for the Q2.
The Q2 2012 reported on page two EUR 499M of restructuring charges.
YoY this is forecast for the Q2 2013 to report at least EUR 300M less than the YoY quarter.
That's an $0.08 EPS wildcard right there.
Including charges, the Q2 2012 reported EPS EUR -$0.38 after Devices lost EUR -474M and NSN lost EUR -227M. Comparitively in the first quarter 2013 Devices lost EUR -42M and NSN profited EUR 3M.
very good point. therefore, the Q2 results are going to be more interesting. weeks ago there was an article in polish newspaper "rzeczpospolita" about application developers in this country working on applications for nokia. one has to keep in mind that many programers currently working for microsoft come from eastern europe where nokia is very popular. the guy who developed ms word, excel and pp come from romenia.
