Wrong price point. Wrong carrier strategy.
No one is going to want to pay a 50% premium over the S4. For a camera phone running windows.
Gotta be lower price than S4 to move off shelf.
This will be a nice niche pbone that wont move the meter on sales.
I have an s-4 and its a great phone. My only complaint is the camera and the camera on this phone looks amazing. I cant wait to get it and $300 is fine with me. The s-4 cost me more. Can you pre order?
I agree with the exclusivity portion #$%$ get out of that agreement immediately. but 299 price point for such a phone is fine it will come down and they have other products in lower price points and will probably annouce more. I will say if they priced it at 199 to gain market share that would have been a good strategy as well. But they wouldnt make much and probaly get killed for it during next Q cc. its a tough game isnt it. poor elop thank god he makes millions to make such decisions i almost felt bad for him...nah.
Haha, did you actually check the pictures? I'm sure as hell going to get this. The L720 of my wife is already vastly beating my L800 but never ever will i buy a normal camera again. The last one i gave to my 70yo mom.
I'm sure the $300 is an up front charge. Believe if you want this phone you will pay the $300 plus the added monthly charge on the Plan you select. I watched the Elop presentation and in years past owned Canons, Hitachi, and other great cameras and this 1020 is right up there or better.
There are plenty of Lumia Models so if this does not fit your needs they have a wide range of pricing.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
AT&T doesn't do that up front/monthly charge like T-Mobile. You pay $300 when you sign a 2-year contract with AT&T and you pay nothing on a monthly basis for the camera. As long as you keep current on your 2-year contract that's all you'll pay.
T-Mobile is out of the subsidy game. You buy the phone from T-Mo at full retail but pay part up front and part on a monthly basis added to your bill.
