JPMorgan upgraded Nokia (NYSE: NOK) from Underweight to Overweight with a price target of $4.70 (to $7.70). Analyst Sandeep Deshpande discussed the possibility that Nokia will seek a sale of its device business. He also noted growth in the low / med end of the market, which should be positive for Nokia.
"Nokia actually has products today to satisfy growth in low/mid end smartphone markets, enabling growth in its smartphone volume," said Deshpande. "If data-points re Nokia raising component orders are correct & based on sell-through then Nokia smartphones could see turn-around in 2H opening options of staying in smartphones or selling profitable business."
Jamie is right about NOK. He must have done his home work with the China a government and China Mobile standards. NOK and TD CDMA are in the sweet spot. The bashers know this and post crazy stuff. I went to the Apple board and non of them realized the Apple phones with TD CDMA would take so long and destroy their margins.
