Nokia to have sold 8.1 million smartphones on Q2 says Reuters

Reuters grouped analyst information from last quarter was spot-on on Lumia sales, so its definitely worth to hear what they have to say for Q2 smartphone sales.

This time Reuters collected analyst information predicts Nokia to have sold 8.1 million smartphones in Q2, that’s a drop from 10 million sold last year, but healthy increase from 6.1 million on last quarter. All the predictions are between 7 million and 10.6 million. Increase seems to be clear at this point and why not when Lumia 520, among others is expected to have sold very healthy amount.

In total analysts expect Nokia to sell 63.5 million phones in Q2. That’s slight rise from 62 million from last quarter. Q1 is traditionally the worst quarter for mobile phone manufacturers and as Nokia is increasing its smartphone sales, it’s no surprise that the basic phone sales from Nokia (and everybody else) are expected to keep their decline. We will see if Asha 501 and Nokia’s new Asha OS can help the sales of basic phones later on.
