Reuters grouped analyst information from last quarter was spot-on on Lumia sales, so its definitely worth to hear what they have to say for Q2 smartphone sales.
This time Reuters collected analyst information predicts Nokia to have sold 8.1 million smartphones in Q2, that’s a drop from 10 million sold last year, but healthy increase from 6.1 million on last quarter. All the predictions are between 7 million and 10.6 million. Increase seems to be clear at this point and why not when Lumia 520, among others is expected to have sold very healthy amount.
In total analysts expect Nokia to sell 63.5 million phones in Q2. That’s slight rise from 62 million from last quarter. Q1 is traditionally the worst quarter for mobile phone manufacturers and as Nokia is increasing its smartphone sales, it’s no surprise that the basic phone sales from Nokia (and everybody else) are expected to keep their decline. We will see if Asha 501 and Nokia’s new Asha OS can help the sales of basic phones later on.
Richiedouglas has been saying 20 million Lumias. LOL!!
Anything over 7.1 million will be positive. In the previous quarter Nokia sold 5.6 million and Elop said he was expecting a 27% increase, which would be 7.1 million. 8 million Lumias would be huge.
that 8.1 million quantity has not appeared anywhere as of this moment......guess you might be reading a Reuters terminal computer screen....and most internet news providers are witholding that info.
There are just too many short sellers around....that would have to swallow that piece of information....and cover their shorts.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I like 8m though but I personally think it will only be 7.2 tops. 520 is an outstanding smartphone but in the earlier part of Q2, Nokia had too many sold out and Nokia power user even seems to suggest the stocks are not being replenished. The supplies issues are only worked out in later. If there is any real surprises, it has to come from NSN.
There's a mistake on their numbers..NOK posted mobilephones sales of 55.8 million. their prediction of 63.5 % is a healthy increase in sales from last Q....Anyways this are just prediction...I just wish they can can their numbers right at least.
