i asked before and seems to met, yif you think the phones are Great and will continue to kick butt, why not buy MSFT instead of NOK, why would NOK rise instead of MSFT?
If you think the phones are great then yes you could buy microsoft in hopes of them taking the devices segment to the next level. I personally like the phones and was sad to see it go but I like what it does for Nokia.
With the sale of the devices segment Nokia offloads an unprofitable portion of their business while retaining several other profitable ventures. Microsoft is paying 2.3 Billion to use Nokia's patents. As part of that deal Nokia will be receiving access to some of Microsoft's patents at no extra charge. I don't know what they are but I think it's interesting and could add unforeseen value. The patents division is already profitable and now has the ability to license their patents to other phone makers without fear of retaliation.
Nokia has recently bought out Siemens share of NSN at a very attractive price. NSN is profitable and growing... and now Nokia owns 100% of it. Analysts were concerned with the cash drain that the purchase would cause. With the influx of cash from Microsoft that concern is greatly mitigated.
The mapping division HERE is growing. With microsoft set to become one of the top 3 paid users of HERE, new contracts with car makers such as mercedes this is a division that will add to the profitability of Nokia as well. Other products are under development (Graphene) that could provide future growth for Nokia as well.
Basically you are looking at a trimmed down company that will be profitable and flush with cash.
simple answer: 20 billion worth of patents sitting on the books, phone company was more of a loss leader than cash cow, and almost zero debt, less labor, more money in gross margin, oh forgot its still making deals most recent being with gps nav systems for Mercedes. I got in at $2 but my balls are on the chopping block if I can't get anything more than $13-15 i need that paper son. im greedy like that and les we not forget make sure your stops are nice and tight .
I own both.. Nokia is a better company without the phones short term.. long term i do think the lumia line outsells both apple and android phones which is good for my msft shares. owning both stocks is like having your cake and eating it to.
