Orbital Engine Corp. Ltd. (OE) Message Board

I believe Mr. Connoly is right in his comments comparing some of this message baord's more frequent visitors as "Mad Hatters."

A few months ago I gave up on this stock and sold it. I'll have a nice tax loss for 2002.
I'll also be free of the "OE Addiction" that is put on display here daily.

I've been visiting other boards lately and have not paid much attention to OE. Today I thought I'd pop on for old time's sake.

Amazing. Nothing ever changes. The same old rants from the same old nannies. Like a time warp. The most recent posts could be cut and paste from six months ago or six years ago.

    Truly pathetic.

    • You may be right. I certainly agree that confidence has been shattered. However, staff reduction costs are once off and can easily be allowed for when assessing future prospects. Provided the institutions have stopped selling by then I would expect an improvement.

I guess what I am saying is "I think (or is it 'hope') you are wrong but I am not sure of it".

    • Thanks for stopping by and making your first post after selling this stock a few months ago -- that is perfectly rational behavior...

By the way, what was your alias when you were here observing the same old rants for six years, as I notice that your alias is brand new?

      How is your WMB doing?

      • I just couldn't help myself!!!

Willyjohn_2000 aka Rootman aka now "agreed manual" is starting by bragging how he sold out of this "dog of a stock", will probably also say "how glad he is to be out" ala his Rootman alias..........How many times he sells out his whole possition will be for him to reveal in future posts!!

Meanwhile, I took the opportunity to add a few more to my swag.
It's a "buy, buy buy" at these bargain-basement prices.

    • based on information from the oec club and my own evaluation of the ocp system compared to other systems i decided to buy as much as i can at current prices. we had more information compiled by a few active oec club members than from all posters on this board. i can only talk for myself and appreciate all the info/newsi made available to us by oec club.

    • You sold at a loss? Why? Were you influenced by this board or did you just decide Orbital was doomed. I am down on Orbital also but still own my stock. One must ask himself why he bought and if those reasons still exist today. Almost all stocks are way off last years highs with no negative specific news. You better reconsider and get back in. I will sell my orbital at a profit or see it go belly up. This is real technology not high tech hype.

      • Orbital now has real potemtial. On the evidence published, the coming year will probably show a slight profit but may not. After that it will improve quite rapidly.

Why, then, is it languishing around 30c (Au)? The main reason is that after the disappointemnts of the last 2 years, the institutions decided to sell and have continued to dribble stock onto the market so that there is plenty of cheap stock to satisfy the individual investors without the price increasing. This may still have some time to run, judging by the Commonwealth Bank's continued selling.

It must be remembered that Orbital is a small stock and the institutions can live without it. Once bureaucracies like the institutions make a decision, it takes concrete evidence to turn it around. It is rather like a battleship. Also, the young analysts making the recommendations are unlikely to race to their boss and say "hey, I made a big mistake, start buying Orbital", it is not a big enough deal.

The institutions will not re-enter until there is a demonstrable move to profit, and it may be 2 years before it is significant enough for that. But I do expect a reasonable boost to price later this year as the news gets a more solid basis behind it.
