i have been a customer for over five years and during that time didn't have a lot of problems. lately however, i have a lot of problems with my dish. i added a second receiver and after a week lost all reception on the second line in. i called and they said you will have to buy a new switch. when i signed up for dish they said they would guarantee the equipment and come out and fix it for no cost. apparently that is not the case. i have done nothing yet on the switch and now i am losing reception on the main line. looks like the dishes don't last six years before parts need to be replaced and apparently at subscribers expense. i just signed up for the hdtv service (which i now am not receiving) and agreed to pay for it for a year. i was charged $150.00 just for the upgrade and that was on lease. screwed again. by the way customers should know that when they get hdtv equipment that they are not going to get local stations in high definition. what a rip.
Yah they always tell you it's a switch so they can charge you for a service call. More than likely their POS receiver isn't locking into their satellite. Just hope you didn't get the 811 model receiver. What a POS that is.
it is my old model that is unable to lock on. the equipment was professionally installed and the old receiver was insalled on the second port (which had never been used). i went through all the technical stuff and lady i talked to claimed it was a bad switch (most likely). yup i got the 811 and i'm getting the signals on that ok but getting freeze ups and the digital view jumps around on occasion.

Well You know what?? Neither will you receive Local channels IN HD by using Direct TV either~!! Nobody has the right yet to receive Locals IN HD~!! You all should know this if you are Up on things~!!! This is a FCC ruling~!! And I upgraded to a 811 Receiver So i the Future when I get a HDTV I WILL be ale to get my Locals via in off air antenna~!! YEAH.. And I lucked out even though I have an Upgrade to not only a Super Dish But an 811 HD Receiver I am NOT Being Charged for the HD Channels of which I can't watch anyway because of no HDTV Yet...I have been a customer for Over 8 years and Just now upgraded so equipment LASTS a lots longer then what you said at 5 years lol
