Let the games begin - AT&T, Verizon, Google, Sprint, T-Mobile, DTV...who will buy DISH?
Now that the AWS-4 is cleared for terrestial 4G, the best use of that spectrum is by the established players...not DISH. DISH knows that. 4G is a money pit. Only Verizon and AT&T are profitable....no other US wireless provider is economically profitable. The market can only support a limited number of players because of the massive infrastructure costs involved. Operators are overbuilding each other....how much network duplication should there be? It's economically inefficent and the market can't support such redundancy.
However, streaming content to tablets and mobile phones, reaching markets, would be good for both DISH and any particular mobile carrier with the high capacity spectrum to deliver that content. DISH can sell the spectrum, or start to make a new highway to profits by partnering to stream content into a new profit center. Now which is better, short term profit or long term profit streams?
If you were the CEO, - oh, that's a ridiculous proposition. Let's just see what Charlie does.
