Oracle To See Additional Earnings Leverage 07.12.05, 10:43 AM ET
Piper Jaffray maintained an "outperform" rating and $17 target price on Oracle (nasdaq: ORCL - news - people ), saying the company will remain one of the top enterprise software vendors. The research firm advised investors to own Oracle stock as a long-term investment. "Growth by acquisition will likely remain Oracle's near-term focus," Piper said. The research firm said Oracle will benefit from strong growth trends in the database market, the 10g product cycle and its expanding applications business. Piper lowered the fiscal 2006 and 2007 earnings-per-share estimates for Oracle to 79 cents and 89 cents, respectively, from 81 cents and 90 cents. "As Oracle's application businesses are further integrated, we should begin to see additional earnings leverage and market share gains from some of the other ERP vendors in the space," Piper said.
I've been tracking ORCL for months now, and came up with a target of $16.32 a few weeks ago. So, with the $17 target in the news, I am obviously happy with my homework...so I picked up 750 shares. Best to longs!
