MAG Silver Corp. Message Board

    buyout rumors?

I have read messages in other boards saying that MVG is a ripe candidate, at the present prices, to be taken over by its major shareholder.
Any body here think that might be the case?

    • It is unlikely, imho, that major shareholder (Fresnillo) acquires MVG. They already tried it couple years ago in cheap hostile manner and it didn’t work. They can’t even try it again in hostile way. Certainly, they could try friendly takeover, but it would require much higher offer and better relationships.
The best way would be for both sides to lower pride and negotiate practical solution. MVG could lower its stake in Valdecanas (let say, to 30%) and Fresnillo could pay some cash for it and take firm commitments to fast-track project to production. It would be win-win solution.

      • you know little about the Fresnillo and Mag agreement, it is all or nothing, either Fresnillo plays the bluff hand that they are willing to construct a stand alone mine, the truth will be known when it comes to break ground, It would be a stupid decision for them to put the proceeds towards a new mill and not put the cash towards a take out of Mag, will know before the end of the year.
