Cracker Barrel Posts Profit, Despite Dip in Fiscal Second-Quarter Revenues
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store reported a slight drop in second-quarter fiscal 2014 revenues, citing severe winter weather as the culprit, but the company was still able to post a profit of $37.1 million, a 5.4 percent gain over a year ago.
The second quarter of fiscal 2014 ended January 31, 2014.
I expect the superior leadership team that has been around for over 6 years at Bob Evans should be more than capable of outperforming the management team at Cracker Barrel, like the Bob Evans management teams of old did on a regular basis. After all, Cracker Barrel is not nearly as forward thinking as the good old boys and girls at BOBE.
I have grown weary of Cracker Barrel over the years. They are not as good (food quality & portions) as they once were; especially before they went public. I remember back around late 80's I guess it was, tried to contact them about investing into one of their restaurants for where I lived in PA then. Received letter back from them saying they were private held and I could not invest in them, and they felt that area of PA was not good place for them anyway....
I received nice letter from corp then, and a packet of tomoato seeds in an old time envelope. A few years later, they went public, and built restaurant in my area of PA after all...
Driving the stock price up based upon takeover or breakup valuations??? Any of the run up due to growth?? I am tired of the increased dividend story since it is due to the massive use of capital to buy back shares thus the increase in dividend. I would like to see a stock split based on a growth story if one can be successfully implemented resulting in explosive growth creating desire from the street for more shares due to institutional and retail customer demand. There hasn't been a split since 1991 not even a stinking 10% dividend. I guess you have to be a trader on this stock today especially since there are many better dividend opportunities out there.
