I am new to this site. I read a Peter Lynch book that described how he invested in Bob Evans when he was managing Magellan and the success he had with the stock.
From a shareholder perspective, why should I own this security over a Cracker Barrel or someother regional restaurant group like Cooker. Other than the obvious loyalty that most investors show towards a company, what are the fundamentals that suggest superior performance for BOBE over comparable equities in the next 3-5 years.
judging by your profile this should be a good inv for you as to why inv in BOBE examine the facts of any co and make up your own mind the things i like about the co. quality of food and service( i do not like their fried potatoes however) this gets you in the door and coming back
-longevity of company(been around for 40plus yrs) -size of company(bobe is growing however be it slowly-they do keep long term debt minimal and own their land(i believe) and their restaurants -decient div although they havent increased for some time i would like to see some more divs as well as some capital growth(been a long time since seen much of that lately) -they are building a store delivery business which builds brand loyality for people to buy their products at the store as well as in the restaurants -in my opinion its a good clean operation from top down!! I think the main thing the has hurt bobe the last 2 yrs give or take some is the fact that the price of hogs has been extremely high and has pinched profits this should be self correcting given time
Noticed your from Vegas been thinking about going out there in the not too distant future need a bigger rush than i am getting from bobe -Brian
Appreciate the response on why to consider BOBE as a DRIP selection. My uncle is an Ohio resident and I recall that he is fond to talk about his "perfect day". It starts with eating at Bob Evans, proceeding to play 18 holes of golf, and then finishing at Murfield watching the pros play. I was impressed by his story telling as well as the enthusiasm shown for BOBE. My perfect day probably wouldn't vary much except I would have some strippers thrown somewhere in the mix.
About Vegas, you can't go wrong here. It is a tourist paradise. Leave the overcast skies behind and head west to the land of fantasy. I work at RIO. Adios.
