There are a couple favorable articles on digitimes right now. One is from the president of Advantest Taiwan (maker of testing equipment) saying that display and DRAM would recover. For the display market, it would be partly due to smart TVs and super hi def TVs, and for DRAM they cite enterprise PC replacement.
There's also an article about to be published that says that the display market will recover late in the first quarter.
There's also a Motley Fool article that just came out on Chipmos. Overall it's positive, except the author completely got the enterprise to free cash flow value wrong, saying it was 27 when it should be more like 3.5. I already left a comment...haven't used my Motley Fool account in forever.
As soon as I read the title, "ChipMOS Technologies Gouges Itself a Deep Hole" I said "What?", then read nothing but positives, esp. the fact that DRAM is clearly turning positive -see MU run up, etc. We know LCD drivers are pure positives.
Then the fabrication on the cash flow. Where do they dig this stuff up:
"At less than seven times earning estimates, ChipMOS certain looks cheap at these levels, though with its enterprise value going for 27 times its free cash flow, it's not what you'd consider a bargain-basement stock. But when a cyclical industry is in a funk, as the chip market currently is, that's the time to strike. Valuations are skewed because of the imbalance, so I think with the forces working in its favor, ChipMOS Technologies looks ready to take off."
As I thought, recent dip was another buying opportunity for those who can't avoid an opportunity when it stares them in the face, and as Caff wrote, we will be rewarded. Just can't get over the fact that the Board with all this cash won't announce another shareholder friendly move and buy this back to accelerate getting to fmv. Just want to see the ESM listing done as promised and on schedule, with dual listing to follow!!
P.S. HIMX continues to outperform, and makes a 50% profit seem like only the beginning.
