    November Revenue Release this Week???

Will we get the revenue release for November 2013 this week?

Besides only having 30 days (okay for comparison to Nov 2012 but not when comparing to 31 day prior month), November have 5 Saturdays and 4 Sundays.

Do the IMOS plants work 24/7?

    • up .6% yoy, less days than last year;
"6:02 am Chipmos Technology reports Nov revs increased 0.6% YoY to NT$1.62 bln (IMOS) : Revenue for the month of November 2013 was NT$1,620.5 million or $54.8 million, a decrease of 0.9% from the month of October 2013 and an increase of 0.6% from the same period in 2012. All U.S. figures in this release are based on the exchange rate of NT$29.59 to $1.00 as of November 29, 2013."

MU poised to have another nice move, cutting deal with Rambus, should start to speak out about increased production, IMOS will be major beneficiary.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • Has, I don't believe they work 24/7. They would have to be running at an effective capacity rate of nearly 100% to justify it, and 1Q is always impacted by Chinese New Year, which suggests to me that they don't run 24 hours a day. A couple of our posters have been to Taiwan, though, and I am sure they can give us a definitive answer.

      • John, I think they do run 24/7 and unless all lines are running at full capacity would they say rate of 100%

        Sentiment: Strong Buy

      • Thanks jbw56,

This does involve shutdowns and startups which can be problematic although I don't know the issues with these machines.

But working a 40 hour workweek is only 24%. Working 24/5 is 71%.

That is why I was thinking this was 24/7 and then some planned downtime for maintenance on some machines and some machines just not operating as they quote ~80% operating capacity.

Anyway, I just don't know and that is the reason I asked. But, if they are not working 24/7, that is a lot of waste (equipment downtime) and I would recommend working nights and weekends rather than buying more machines and building a bigger plant.

I am in the manufacturing buiness (Petroleum Engineer and oil production) and trust me, we operate 24/7. We have a lot of automation due to the shutdown/startup issues and have smaller crews operating nights (12 hour schedules and rotational work of 4 weeks on/4 weeks off). Our planned preventive maintenance is done during daylight hours but corrective (breakdown) repairs are sometimes done at night depending upon impact. The schedule is great though. I get six, 4 week vacations per year!!!

    • Am guessing they will dissapoint with their November revenue numbers as they usually do. What do you think of sgoc? I think it is a buy at 3.50 and a sell much over 4/share. I like what you have said about himx on the sa site, particularly on the thread about its being overbought a month or so ago.

      Sentiment: Hold

      • Thanks silmarilion123,

You should post the HIIMX comments on the HIMX Message Board.

Baidu (Chinese copycat of Google??) came out with a plan for around 2 million pair of display glasses. The upside of this, besides potentially more displays for HIMX, is that is gives Google some incentive to get their product to market.

After the Credit Suisse presentations, Northland Securities has invited HIMX to New York for a conference (or private talks???). It is good HIMX is going and that has to be bullish. Note that New York is the long way back to Taiwan.

I'll have to look at SOGC again. It is on my watch list but I would need to refesh my mind. As a longer term investor, I would probably not play it for a buy at $3.50 and sell over $4.
