I checked my records and in 2010 and 2011.. I took profits of
$7200 on DEER. But I will say that it wasn't really worth doing.
Right now I own 5500 shares @ $3.54 and if I let the share price
go to zero, that will be a loss of $19,470 minus $7200 which equals
a loss of $12,270.
Since 1 /1 /13 my brokerage account is up roughly $100,000...
just to show how an investor can recover from losses. And I will
not take the loss on DEER until I am 100% sure that I have to.
It doesn't matter what anyone else is going to do. It doesn't matter
that the short sellers would like me to sell.
Shorts made good money on this, so good job. Take the profit
and be careful what you do with it because shorts aren't making
much money right now.
I had a great week; my account was up $8600 today after the usual
Friday afternoon profit taking.
God luck everyone and don't be discouraged at all.
You can recover. No one should feel like they did
something wrong by investing in this. We got a bad
break and we were cheated.
I'm in a similar position and feel the same way, although I don't own nearly the same number of shares. Deer is a small portion of my overall investments so letting this fluctuate and fall further doesn't change much. When and if the time comes I'll take the loss for tax purposes.
