yeah he sold off most of MTG in April or May to cash in profits
and bailed on the rest during the summer, after the drop I think
and he bought ALU for value... maybe EA, too. I forget if he had GLOG and MHR before.
but based on either ALU or EA, he would have made a lot more just holding his MTG shares than what he's done with those two -- let alone double-down on more MTG or RDN.
I actually bought ALU a bit too but I bought it at 1.16 and rode it up post-QE3 a bit but once it came back to 1.16 I sold to break out at 0.... which is good because I just noticed that today, after almost hitting 1.30 after QE3, it's down to almost 1... so Bass may have even loss money on EA or ALU depending at where he entered at -- where he'd have made a lot off MTG.
I don't understand hedge fund managers.... they make dumb decisions. I'm still an amateur and I'll be over 100% return this year once MTG officially breaks $1.96... and all I really did was buy obviously cheap but important stocks like BAC, PHH, MTG, RDN, etc -- and buy/sell a few times based on obviously big market news (policymakers will never choose conservatism over keeping their jobs). Htf someone could only make 5-15% this year considering the rallies we've had is insane to me.
