Ex-Div Dec 22 / $$ managers WANT 8.5% yield vs 0% for 3 mnth T-Bill
This stock should stay strong up until 12/22 the ex dividend date.
The 3 month t-bill is yielding 0% return right now so holding MO to get the 8.5% dividend is a good play......
In regards to the recent ruling on LIGHT cigs......
Because liability in this case is premised on the effect of smoking on health, Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in dissent that he would hold that the state-law claims are expressly preempted by the federal cigarette labeling law.
Vice Fund <VICEX.O> portfolio manager Charles Norton said the ruling removed one of the defenses used in cases involving light cigarettes, but it does not by itself signal a shift in tobacco litigation.
"In spite of today's ruling, I expect the future of (light cigarette) litigation to continue to move in the direction that it has in recent years, in favor of the industry," he said
If idiots want to addict themselves to coffin nails, and I can profit, so be it. My family lives better because you die? Nothing different here than killing Muslims or bombing camel jockeys because they don't believe in your myths and magics, or because they were lucky to be borne over an oil pit and you need it.
Thanks to those for getting out of bed with their daughters and their neighbors wives to make a moral judgement.
