        Even if you include ONLY families with children, you are still wrong.

        The average American woman has fewer than 2.1 children each.

        So even if you include families with children, AND assume that BOTH parents are present, you are still at 4 people in the "average" family. However, one third of all families with children present are single-parent families, thus the average size is closer to (.65*4) + (.35*3) = 3.65.

        And of course Cumgobbler just assumes that childless couples are not a "family" at all. They drag the average down far lower. -- close to 3.

        But Cumgobbler lives in Pap Smear America, where time stopped in 1952.
