Boehner has cast his lot with the Tea-Droolers.... Pelosi will be Speaker

Boehner is now saying either shut down government or defund Obamacare and we want to default on our obligations. Wonder how history will treat him

He had a chance to ignore the Tea-Droolers and form a compromise with Democrats, but he just could not put the nation above his politics.

More evidence that the country is going to punish the GOP.

    WE WIN!!!!!!

    Sentiment: Strong Sell

        @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

The Democrats were Boehner's last chance at a compromise. Those Tea-Droolers that were elected are only interested in obstruction of the black guy's agenda. At some point some of the Republicans are going to have to compromise in the best interests of the nation. Not some townhall applause line, or a piece of red meat to the uneducated.

Boehner continues to redefine spinelessness downward. He's totally pwned by teabaggers.

I disagree. Thanks to the safety net afforded by Republican gerrymandering, plus the conservative SCOTUS gutting the VRA (hello voter suppression!), the GOP will likely retain control of the House in perpetuity.

Furthermore, (regarding the (s)election of US President via the Electoral College)
"In total, there are 538 electors, based on there being 435 representatives and 100 senators, plus the three electors from the District of Columbia."

That's why 270 EVs are needed to win the presidency: 270/538=50.2%. In other words, there isn't actually a national election for US president, but rather 51 concurrent elections. And even in such cases, as the conservative-owned SCOTUS made clear in Bush v Gore, Republican interpretations of the "rule of law" are entirely corrupted by partisan affiliation.
