    why?

    I bought a comouter to keep closer tabs on what makes MO stock move and why,I get plenty of imformation but it's not enough . Does anyone know why it's going up so consistantly with barely a drawback? I'm waiting on the profit takers to come in but even on dow down days it's up! I'm thinking of subscribing to BMI but think it's more than I need.

    • 1997 was tough, what can I say

    • MO is a screaming buy as far as I'm concerned; litigation has been around since the begining of time and the co. still has one of the most solid earning patterns around; do think for one minute that management is not prepared or did not anticipate the legal wranglings? ok, mayby not to this extent so quickly, but remember:
      a. there are other companies who will share the financial burden of any settlement/legal outcome;
      b. reserves put aside for such contingencies;
      c. insurance/re-insurance/re-re-re insurance
      d. increase on tobacco prices(perhaps the most in-elastic demand curve for a legally obtainable product)that will significantly mitigate any economic pressure a settlement/legal outcome;
      e. foreing laws not dispositive/responsive towards the claims being litigated here that are presenting a bit more burdensome circumstances;
      f. extraterritorial application of our laws very difficult to enforce;
      g. foreing tobbaco sales going through the roof;
      h. forget about the diversification and top-notch management;

      85-90 with even a hint of settlement; do I sound confident? you bet; but, Just one man's opinion.
