I wonder if the analyst are factoring the potential loss of 1500 jobs in Tupelo via Lane Furniture. I know several of the employees were told to take the rest of this week off. Pretty quick reactions. That would surely affect delinquency, as well as deposits. Another huge employer in the area is struggling as well in the tire industry. That's a lot of folks in a small town like Tupelo. Not sure if there is enough industry to absorb this .
And how are other towns doing? Currently in Tupelo the Quality Inn property remains unsold when no one bid the minimum of $350,000 and another motel on US 178 is for sale as it is being built. The VF Outlet Mall has been for sale for years and Target stores seems to have decided that the Barnes Crossing location doesn't suit them............ And Tupelo's individual retail sales are greater than average individual income. What gives? Business owners are as clueless as the bankers.... And vice versa.
