I can't even imagine what a 1GW contract would do to the price of FSLR. ALL shorts would be trying to cover at once. Why so many are still short this is beyond me. FSLR will be fine until 2014 without any new contracts.
Maybe we are still here because we read past the headline. Why everyone is getting so worked up over a story about a "potential" module sale (not an actual project just a module sale) for a project that has not yet been approved is beyond me. I thought FSLR was getting out of the module sales business because margins were to low due to increasing competitive pricing in the industry ? Yet most of the big announcements are module sales, which FLSR said they were going to get out of. On top of that, the article said that they may purchase modules from more than one company. Everything about this is a big "what if" - including the fact that they are going to test the modules first, and we all know that Blythe, CA is one of the hottest places in the planet (Degradation anyone ?) -- and even if everything goes perfectly its just a low margin module sale. I'll bet NONE of you have done the math on this deal. Heck, who am I kidding ? You guys never even got past the headline.
