    I Must Be Missing Something

I continue to be baffled by the share price of Solar Enertech relative to the share price of other companies in the industry. For instance, I just looked at Akeena Solar, which currently is priced at apx. $7 per share. AKNS is not even a manufacturer from my reading - it's classified as being in the industry service sector - its designs. intergrates, markets and installs solar panels. It's projected to lose about .29 per share in 2008. SOEN is a manufacturer and its bottom line this year should be decidedly better if my assessment is correct. Further, SOEN is in the entry stage of its growth. I know the stock is not on NASDAQ and has very low visibility. Is this the major reason - what am I missing? This is just one of many examples; there are many others.

    • Gulick...it's virtually impossible to value a company based on income when they're in the red on a ttm basis, as both of these companies are. However, if you take a look at their balance sheets, that will give you a good chunck of the valuation story as things stand now. AKNS has $12MM in net tangibles, while SOEN is a negative $19MM.

I've been following SOEN for a year now, and I like their direction. They seem to be turning the ship, and that's always a good sign for longs. I'm looking for some more contract revs to show up as they move forward. This is one of my future plays. GLTU!

    • I'm a lurker, with not many posts.
Just thought I should take my stand, knowing students as I do.

Great concept. Strong future. Call me long.

    • It's funny how many reasons one can find to buy this stock. You took the words out of my mouth with your research. I caught the last run and sold @ 1.57. Have started buying back shares recently and will probably buy some more. They are flying under the radar at the moment but that should change in the future. I see they are making appearance at growth conferences. That should help. Also, many funds are not allowed to purchase stocks under $5.00 and stocks under 5.00 can't be purchased with margin money either. Those two factors lead to higher multiples. SOEN is a little gem, if you havn't bought some already, you should.

    • all NASDAQ solar got high momentum during late Nov'07 thru early Jan'08. look at ASTI, DSTI, AKNS etc thin film based solar comapnies, have nothing just nothing . But traded at good price. NASDAQ gave good visibility thus those stocks having nothing also propelled. SOEN won't go NASDAQ with in next one year at least, then in 2009 good possibility it price holds above $5+ (which I believe it will)
