Are you reading what the ufcw is doing in DC??? They keep saying and preaching that they care for the poor workers, What they do is prey on the ignorant and uninformed .. for the purpose of DUES - they care nothing for the Walmart workers but look at the dues picture if they collected $35 per employee from each Walmart worker in the US - that would be $420 million per month -- They say they care for the workers that is a load of #$%$ A ,BIG load of #$%$.. unions destroyed GM, Twinkies, etc, etc, etc, everything they infest they kill...I quit shopping at Kroger because of the union and I will never buy another uaw made vehicle..
Kroger must keep Harris Teeter union free.

Trimming the fat and getting cost under control has been easy for Kroger. They had or have so many areas of their business that are so miss managed it made it easy to cut cost. By bring in third party companies who had good employee's and even better management they used their skills to stream line operations and get cost down. Left up to the old school Kroger employee's Kroger would be operating with the waste they had for years.
The good news is there's still lots of room for cutting cost and getting profit margins up. There's lots of room for growth in every market where Kroger competes. Kroger has had great success subcontracting out areas they couldn't manage on their own. They need to keep that cycle going. If core Kroger employee's can't earn their keep by implementing cost saving ideas and further streamlining operations, they need to buy them out and get someone in there with the knowledge, experience, and track record of executing new cost saving ideas.
A good management team works together as one unit putting ideas and information together along with common sense to tweak or fine tune different areas of operations. And to keep cost down, or to get costs down even further. Like any team, you're only as strong as your weakest link, or links.

i feel sorry for the HT people, KR says they can save 40 - 50 million?? wonder how? Easy, close down stores and cut people, put the money in their pockets. GREED! I know, been there saw that with a company I use yea, use to work for. NOBODY cares about you or your family...if they can cut a dime they will stab your mother in the back for it....I won't ever go into another HT or KR.....I will cut the nose off my face and go to the fresh market or walmart...screw em
krogers will probably reassign people like HT people to other areas of the Kroger business . Their may be those that will be let go.Those are people that are smart and educated. They will not stand around pointing fingers and passing blame on Kroger, but get out into the job market and work for themselves or another company that sees the true value in them and what they bring to the table.
I shop Kroger because of the shopping experience. I invested in Kroger because of that same experience. Never gave much thought to the union thing. You sound really confused. Wal-Mart is non-union. I don't shop Wal-Mart because people like you shop there. Wal-Mart is a dump and Anti-American. Wal-Mart hates Americans and they hate their employee's.
That's why I shop Kroger. I've been shopping at Kroger for a long time. I know a lot of people who work at the store I shop at. They don't ever talk about union stuff to me. My meat cutter cuts perfect prime ribs for me every-time. Kroger runs prime rib for the holidays. If I can't find what I need at Kroger, I go to Costco. No one on here cares if you buy another car. If Kroger employee's are all union they built a great company.
